TMA Music has compiled the following recommendations of artists to watch based on data, dialogue with music industry partners, and signals from social media. Our goal is to provide you with a sneak peek of who is on the rise to spark new ideas and celebrate the joy of new music.

Here are some of the artists on our radar right now.

Sad Night Dynamite (UK)

GENRE: Indie, Hip Hop, Jazz, Electronic

AGE: 22 and 23

KNOWN FOR: They’ve been in the studio with FKA Twigs, Gorillaz are a huge fan, and Pa Salieu has asked to write with them. Their sound is fresh and different, and the production is big enough that it feels like it could fill stadiums. Although they are still very new to the music scene, you get the sense they’ll be going far. After the release of their mixtape in February, the band announced three UK headline shows – all selling out within hours.

LYRICAL THEMES: Surrealism, optimism, enjoyable self-awareness

COUNTRIES WITH MOST SPOTIFY LISTENS: US, UK

Amongst those listeners, Jorja Smith added her to a playlist and continues to champion her. This year will be a big push for Millett, with a lot of backing from the label Sony. Her new EP featuring Ghetts is steadily gaining her more streams, and no doubt her upcoming shows will be ones to watch.

And, his Indie-Pop talents are now being recognized – in November 2020, he was shortlisted as a finalist for MTV Push UK & IRE 2021 as Best Upcoming Artist. His new music has been called one of the UK’s brightest lights with support from Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, Beats 1, and more, shown by having three consecutive tracks that were Annie Mac’s “Hottest Records in the World” on BBC Radio 1.
