Humans of TMA: Indigo Charles
Humans of TMA is a content series in partnership with Discover_TMA that showcases the diverse, interesting, and creative people that make up The Marketing Arm.
Let’s get to know Indigo…
What is your guilty pleasure? Banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery…I’ve been known to eat it until I’m ill.
What’s your hobby or passion project outside of TMA? I have been releasing music professionally and doing shows since I was 19. I love being able to perform and connect with people on a deeper level.
What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day? There is nothing better than a glass of cabernet, a 14k gold Korean face mask, and couch time with my best friend in our robes.
What is one thing you wish more people knew about you? I hate yogurt, and it really kills my soul when people eat it around me.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Take a moment to appreciate your victories and let them continue to inspire your goals, but don’t be so focused on the future that you don’t live in the now.
What led you to this career/industry? I grew up around the entertainment industry as both of my parents were/are music industry executives. Their careers inspired me, but my mom said over her dead body regarding working in the music industry. So I picked my second passion, which was fashion. I’m positive I made the right decision.
What three words would your closest friends use to describe you? Loyal, brutally honest, and adventurous.
If you could trade places for a day with anyone who would you choose and why? I like my shoes…no need for trades, let’s just be friends.
What trend do you hope makes a comeback? 90s dance parties. I miss the days of no phones on the dance floor.
What’s a trip that changed you and why? Morocco. I had never been to a country where women were so oppressed. Even as a guest of the king on a music video for the tourism board, male staff would not acknowledge me when I asked for something small like water. Being fully covered up in 100-degree weather and still being treated/looked at the way I was, it was the most insane thing I’ve ever experienced and made me want to continue to fight for women’s rights.
Favorite form of live entertainment? Concerts for sure, but especially an outdoor concert! The Hollywood Forever Cemetery hosts the most incredible concert experiences. I’ve seen The Weekend, Miguel, and The XX in the cemetery and it was the most eerie yet magical vibes.
QUICK HITS…
What are you watching? I’m a massive fan of TV, so I’m watching a ton right now. However, new shows worth checking out are “The Morning Show” with Jennifer Anniston, “Tell Me A Story” with Paul Wesley, “Truth Be Told” with Octavia Spencer, and if you’re not watching the last season of “Power” with Omari Hardwick… we can’t be friends.
What are you reading? Way too real Instagram memes on @th0tmess to distract me from my overwhelming email inbox.
Who are you following? All of the top stylists to see what everyone is wearing for awards season: Jason Rembert, Wayman + Micah, Jason Bolden, Ilaria Urbinati, Karla Welch, and Law Roach.
What are you listening to? I bounce between my two curated Tidal playlists “Feels” and “Real Hot Girl Sh%t,” which bounces from Brent Faiyaz to Meg Thee Stallion.
What trip are you planning? Blessed to have a few coming up, but I’m most excited about the Murder Mystery weekend I have coming up in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.
What are you ignoring? I’m unsuccessfully ignoring the 10 bags of Anthony Davis Ruffles chips on our counter at Hideaway (which are calling my name to eat). Shout out Shyrl Bagneris.
